Outlast 2 is in the first person horror genre and attempts to engage the player with atmosphere and a sense of uneasiness. Rather than relying on game play that is crucial to the story and progression, Outlast 2 wants you to experience its characters and world first. Which begs the question, can it be engaging without having a deep game play loop?
